Stem Cell Biologist
Suvi graduated with a Master’s degree in Chemical Biology from the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. During her Master’s thesis, she studied human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and continued to work with hESCs and their differentiation towards hematopoietic lineage at the University of California, Los Angeles. Suvi completed her PhD in the study of mitochondrial metabolism at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine, Barcelona. During her post-graduate research at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute in Olivier Pourquie’s group, Suvi applied her extensive research experience to differentiating human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) into skeletal muscle.
Family: A little girl, a crazy dog, and a wonderful husband to keep her feet on the ground and a smile on her face
Hobbies: Escape-the-room, board games (always ready for a match)
